DALLAS, Texas — On any given night along Lower Greenville, regulars at The Libertine knew to look down before they looked up. The bar’s front steps weren’t just an entryway—they were Tilt’s spot. And for many, he was the reason they stopped by.

The 2-year-old gray domestic shorthair, born behind the bar with a litter of siblings, was struck and killed by a car over the weekend just down the street. Staff and patrons say the loss is hitting harder than they ever expected.

“It got to the point where we had customers coming in just to meet him,” bartender Kayla Hutnik said.

Owner Simon McDonald said Tilt mostly stayed on the stoop, greeting patrons and wandering between tables.

“He mostly hung out here,”
