LAPEL, Ind — A second-half comeback fell just short for the Lapel Bulldogs, who were looking to make their first trip to the state football finals .

Brownstown built a 24-7 lead, then withstood the Bulldogs' rally to earn their first championship berth.

Trailing 24-7, Lapel quarterback Devin Craig connected with Liam Ko for a 34-yard touchdown to end the third quarter. Midway through the fourth, Craig went to the air again, finding Andrew Evelo to cut the deficit to 24-21.

With momentum on the side of the Bulldogs, Brownstown quarterback converted a third-and-8 with a 44-yard pass to Micah Scheffer, then put the game away with a touchdown pass to Ethan Wheeles for a 31-21 victory.

The Braves will face Andrean Saturday, Nov. 28 at 11 a.m. for the Class 2A state title at Lucas Oil Stadiu
