SELINSGROVE — In a clash of PIAA blue bloods — a matchup of programs with a combined 18 state titles and 90 PIAA tournament wins — Southern Columbia proved they are still the premier small-school program in Pa., thrashing Steel-High 55-26 to advance to the AA quarterfinals.
The Tigers ran wild on the field turf of Harold G. Bolig Memorial Field to the tune of 484 yards, including 359 on the ground.
“We got behind the sticks and (Southern Columbia’s) physicality just showed up today,” said Rollers head coach Andrew Erby. “They were able to beat us in certain matchups were typically to our advantage. We just couldn’t win the physical battle tonight and it was obvious.”
