NORFOLK, Va. — In need of a spark after back-to-back road losses, Old Dominion men’s basketball found exactly that Friday night at Chartway Arena. The Monarchs rolled past Morgan State, 88–56, securing their largest margin of victory over a Division I opponent since 2017.
The win moves ODU to 3–3, stopping the frustration that followed lopsided defeats at George Washington and Xavier. This time, the stat sheet flipped in the Monarchs’ favor: 48% shooting, a 42–36 edge on the boards, and just seven turnovers.
Freshman guard Zacch Wiggins delivered a breakout performance, posting 18 points and three assists in only 23 minutes. ODU’s depth also shined, with 46 points coming from the bench—Jared Turner added 14 points, Jordan Battle had 12, and LJ Thomas chipped in 11.
