GREENVILLE, N.C. — Old Dominion women’s basketball found the answers it needed Friday afternoon, riding a career-tying performance from Simone Cunningham to a 73-67 road win over East Carolina at Williams Arena.
Cunningham tied her career high with 23 points and four blocks, powering ODU (4-1) through a physical matchup that saw ECU dominate the offensive glass.
“For us to come into this hostile territory on Education Day with the team that we have…they were the ones with almost 20 more possessions than us,” head coach DeLisha Milton-Jones said. “And they got 22 offensive rebounds? For us to still come away with the win, I’m going to take it, run with it, and be happy about it.”
The Monarchs trailed 15-15 late in the first before closing on a 6-1 run behind Cunningham and Mariah Clayton
