The Chinese government has removed one of its key deputy representatives in Hong Kong, less than six months after its top representative was also replaced, signalling rapid changes in leadership in the politically sensitive region.
Chinese state media outlet Xinhua announced on Friday, November 21, that Yin Zonghua had been removed from his post as deputy director of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (LOCPG).
The deputy directorship is the second-highest position in the office, which serves as Beijing’s main representative body in the territory. The move follows the unexpected removal of the former director, Zheng Yanxiong, in May 2025.
