UK taxpayers are being advised to check if they are owed a refund from HMRC.

HMRC is reminding people across Britain that they could be owed a tax refund on their pension, pay or self-assessment tax return.

You could be entitled to a refund - technically known as a rebate - if you have paid too much tax.

In a message on X, formerly known as Twitter, HMRC, said: "Think you’re owed a tax refund?

"Manage your money and tax easily with the HMRC app."

A report by Kantar for HMRC in 2022 indicated that large numbers of people in the UK pay too much tax or too little every year, Mirror reports.
