JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man in his early-70s who was backing a vehicle out his driveway hit and killed a woman in Jacksonville just after midnight Saturday, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
JSO Sgt. Robert Hungerford said the incident happened around 12:25 a.m. in the 5000 block of Brait Avenue.
According to Hungerford, the man said he did not know the woman was behind his vehicle.
Members of the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department responded to the scene and pronounced the woman dead upon arrival, Hungerford said.
The woman's identity was not released, but Hungerford said she was in her mid-60s.
This marks as the 147th traffic fatality in Duval County in 2025, according to JSO.
