BOSTON —
Thursday marked the 25th anniversary of Survivors of Homicide Victims Awareness Month, a month dedicated to informing, influencing, and impacting how society views and responds to murdered victims, as well as their families.
Affected families, lawmakers, and community organizers commemorated the solemn day inside the Great Hall at the Massachusetts State House with the help of the Louis D. Brown Peace Institute.
The nonprofit that provides critical support for families affected by violence.
Speakers at the State House included two women who lost their sons to homicides in Boston.
“Too many families across our city have been affected by the trauma and pain of losing a loved one to homicide," said Clementina Chéry, the Peace Institute’s president and chief executive officer.
