LOWELL, Mass. —
Lowell police are warning residents about scammers in their city targeting elderly victims and their jewelry.
Officials say the scammers travel in a team, usually an adult male and an adult female.
The suspects claim to be selling jewelry and will typically be driving vehicles with out-of-state license plates, according to investigators.
Police warn not to approach the suspects or engage them in conversation.
The scammers reportedly will place fake jewelry on their victims during a conversation while removing the victims' real jewelry.
Anyone with information about the suspects is asked to call Lowell police at 978-937-3200.
