A police officer who assaulted a teenager in a police cell has been sentenced. Pc Sam Clarke of Cheshire Police was convicted of assault by beating following a trial.
The teenager's mum, who we have chosen not to name, said he was a 'vulnerable child' who has been caught up in county lines , where illegal drugs are transported from one area to another. When the incident took place, she said her son, who she says has with learning difficulties and ADHD, had been arrested for possession of a knife.
The mum claimed he was in a cell 'posing no threat' at Runcorn Custody Suite on Manor Farm Road when he made a homophobic slur against the officer, which prompted PC Clarke to attack him. She only discovered her son had been injured the following day when he appeared in court.
