Earthquake in Bedminster, Friday, Nov. 22.

A small earthquake struck just west of Bedminster late Friday night, Nov. 21, according to the U.S. Geological Survey (UGSG).

The magnitude 1.8 quake hit at 11:22 p.m. EST, about 5 kilometers west of Bedminster, at a depth of 4.8 kilometers, the USGS reports.

Residents in Califon and Long Valley submitted the most responses, with more than 30 people in each town saying they felt the shaking. Smaller numbers of reports also came from Whitehouse Station, Gladstone, Mendham, and Annandale, all rated at Intensity Level III, which is described as weak shaking that may be felt indoors but does not cause damage.
