CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - Hundreds of thousands of Iowans could soon see higher insurance costs as federal tax credits for the Affordable Care Act are set to expire at the end of this year.
On Saturday, Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids hosted an event to help people navigate those changes.
“I’m currently paying $13 and it’s going to jump to $89 in ’26,” Alan Waite who attended the event said.
Waite attended the event to learn what changes he would see in his insurance prices next year.
“I wouldn’t have known where to go otherwise. And I had somebody to really help me through all the steps that you need to go through,” Waite said. “And it gives you confidence. And that’s a good feeling,” he said.
This is the first time Mercy has hosted an event like this.
