JACKSON – Throughout its unbeaten campaign, Detroit Catholic Central has proven it can pound the rock or hit for big plays on a variety of looks in the passing game.

Saturday afternoon’s D1 state semifinal at Jackson High School was a reminder of the Shamrocks’ ability to wreak havoc in the third phase of the game as well.

Speedsters Samson and Gideon Gash each had a special teams return for a touchdown and Catholic Central romped East Kentwood 46-6 to book the the program’s first finals appearance since 2016.

When the Shamrocks forced a punt on the game’s opening drive, Samson shucked off at least three tackling attempts in CC’s half of the field and galloped over 90 yards for the score, making it 8-0 a little over four minutes into the gam
