WESTLAND – A trip to Ford Field is not an easy task for any football team.
But for the second straight year, the Fighting Irish are heading back to the MHSAA state finals, on the road to repeat as D5 champions.
A first-half shutout, a scoring frenzy of a third quarter, and another shutout in the fourth concluded with a 51-21 win for the Fighting Irish over Monroe Jefferson at John Glenn High School for the return trip down to Detroit.
It looked to be an easy day for the Irish, who scored on each of their drives in the first half and led 24-0 at the break before the Bears were able to make any headway.
Meanwhile, ND Prep had six different players score touchdowns, including two from Ben Liparoto, who finished with 183 yards.
