HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A man was rescued Saturday after a boat was reportedly swamped by a large wave.
On Saturday, at around 4 p.m., first responders were called to Hanauma Bay for swimmers in distress off the shore.
It was reported that a 12-foot vessel carrying a 55-year-old man and a man in his 20s was swamped by a large wave, which caused it to sink.
The Honolulu Fire Department arrived just before 4:30 p.m. and began to search the shoreline.
HFD said the man in his 20s swam to shore, climbed up the cliffside, and called 911 for help. The 55-year-old began to drift west.
HFD said a good Samaritan on a jet ski found the man and brought him to HFD’s rescue boat before care was transferred to EMS at Maunalua Bay.
Emergency Medical Service said paramedics treated the 55-year-old
