BBC Breakfast was interrupted for a 'significant' update about the upcoming budget during Sunday morning's programme (November 23).

Chancellor Rachel Reeves is set to deliver the highly-anticipated Autumn Budget on Wednesday, which could include manifesto-breaking tax rises.

The Chancellor has previously pledged that the new budget will "deliver on the priorities of the British people" by slashing NHS waiting lists, the national debt and the cost of living.

Whilst she has reportedly ruled out raising income tax rates, speculation suggests she may announce an extended freeze on income tax and National Insurance thresholds, meaning more people would be paying it as wages increase over time.
