There have not been many reasons to watch Match of the Day this season if you're a Newcastle United fan. Premier League wins on a Saturday have been alarmingly thin on the ground, while arch rivals Sunderland have enjoyed surprise success.

However that all changed this weekend after Saturday's superb 2-1 victory over Manchester City at St James' Park, which saw Eddie Howe's side hit top form for perhaps the first time this term.

Two second-half goals from Harvey Barnes gave United three hugely important points in a result which is hoped can prove to be a cataylst to kick-start their season.
