The Yunker family of Swanton proves that Thanksgiving reaches far beyond the turkey and pumpkin pie. Since anyone can remember, the children of Harold and Lois Yunker and their families have gathered at the Faith Lutheran Church for the annual feast, but also for the togetherness they share.

With the death of Barbara Cooper and Howard Yunker, the number is reduced from 14 to 12 siblings.

Or, as Marty Perkins, who spearheads the family production explains, “We just love each other.”

Marty estimates that at least 75 relatives will attend, but it well could be more as they come and go during the day.

Thanksgiving is not the only annual reunion for the Yunkers. From 30 to 40 family members meet the first Wednesday of each month for dinner and conversation at Loma Linda’s.
