A 14-year-old child has died after multiple teenagers were shot following a riot at a Christmas tree lighting event in the US.
Chaos erupted at Chicago's official Christmas light ceremony on Friday night after the event was reportedly stormed by as many as 300 young people and several shots were fired. Chicago police were then alerted to a second shooting just minutes later and found two victims struck by gunfire.
A boy, aged 14, suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was rushed to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was later pronounced dead. A second male victim, 18, was taken to hospital after a gunshot wound to the leg left him seriously injured. The boys are believed to have been shot at around 10:40pm.
