Real Madrid have issued an apology after showing the wrong Andre Silva during a tribute to former Liverpool striker Diogo Jota and his brother.

The Portugal international and his brother Andre tragically died in a car accident on July 3, and Madrid honoured the pair during a video at their Annual General Meeting.

Madrid played out a video honouring those lost over the past year, and showed an image of Jota.

However, they used a photograph of Elche striker Andre da Silva, rather than Jota's brother who had the same name.

In a statement, the club said: “Real Madrid C.F. apologises to Elche C.F. and its player André da Silva for having mistakenly included, in the obituary of an institutional video, his image instead of that of André Silva, brother of Diogo Jota , Liverpool player.
