PINEVILLE, La. (KALB) - A Pineville man has been arrested following a standoff situation in the 3800 block of Hwy 107, according to the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office.

RPSO said Donald P. Baker, 36, allegedly prevented some family members from leaving a home on November 22, around 10:24 p.m. He even removed a wheel from a vehicle.

Deputies arrived at the scene and found Baker with an AR-style rifle in the front yard. He was ordered to put down his weapon and surrender, but the standoff continued.

RPSO called the SWAT Team to assist out of concern for the family members inside, to prevent a hostage situation.

Shortly after midnight, RPSO said less lethal measures were deployed when an opportunity arose. Baker was taken to the ground, disarmed, and taken into custody.
