Police have issued an update after a fire tore through a former town centre nightclub last night. Emergency services were called to King Street in Wigan at around 10.30pm on Saturday, November 22.

The blaze had ripped through the old Jak's nightclub . King Street, which was busy with people on nights out at the time, was closed off by police . Nearby properties were also evacuated, one of which was Reef Bar and Terrace. In an early Sunday Facebook post, the bar commended its staff, security and DJs.

As reported by the MEN , the bar said: "All carried out an effective and safe evacuation and have all done really well working in an unfamiliar environment tonight. The team is an absolute asset."
