Possible gunshots heard near the Rivière-des-Prairies detention centre on Saturday afternoon led to several Montreal police vehicles being deployed to the area.
The incident took place on Armand-Chaput Ave. in the borough of Rivière-des-Prairies—Pointe-aux-Trembles at about 2 p.m., Montreal police spokesperson Manuel Couture said on Sunday. A search of the scene led to the discovery of a firearm and shell casings in the nearby woods, he said, but no bullet impact was found and no suspect has yet been apprehended.
According to media reports, the gunshots were heard at the same time as members of the Rizzuto organization were in a courtyard of the detention centre.
