In true Taylor Sheridan fashion, season two of Landman is taking a while to get going. But this has never really been a plot-driven show anyway, with traditional Big Bads introduced each season to be defeated at the conclusion. This is a soapy comedy-drama about living in West Texas and working in the petroleum industry — and though the cartel theatrics and traditional crime-drama beats kick in from time to time, Sheridan is more interested in day-to-day life.
That’s not to say all “day-to-day life” stories are created equal. Unfortunately, the show has not toned down the ridiculous Angela and Ainsley subplots even a little bit in season two.
