STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — New York City residents can now explore the history behind street signs in their neighborhoods through an interactive map that documents nearly 2,500 individuals honored with co-named streets throughout the five boroughs.
The Co-Named Street Map , created by NYC Records, provides biographical information about the famous and unsung heroes whose names appear on street signs throughout the Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens and Staten Island. The digital tool serves historians, researchers, students and anyone curious about the people who have shaped the city’s development.
Users can search the map in multiple ways. The search bar allows visitors to enter an honoree’s name to locate specific individuals or type in a zip code to find all co-named streets in that area
