COMMERCE, Ga. — A University of Georgia football player was arrested on Sunday on charges of fleeing and eluding a police officer and reckless driving.
Police said it all started from a traffic stop in downtown Commerce turned into two high-speed pursuits topping 100 mph on Sunday after an officer attempted to pull over a driver who ran a stop sign, police said.
Commerce Police released an unofficial report, where they said that the officer was speaking with the driver, later identified as the mother of the primary suspect, when another vehicle blew past at more than 100 mph in the 25-mph zone, according to police.
The officer abandoned the initial stop and attempted to catch the speeding vehicle, driven by Nyier Daniels, who officers say fled down North Broad Street and onto Old Mays
