KANSAS CITY, Mo. —
Xavier Worthy pushed through multiple injuries and delivered one of the biggest plays of the game Sunday in Kansas City's 23-20 win over Indianapolis.
Worthy, battling shoulder, ankle and foot issues, hauled in a pivotal 31-yard completion in overtime, a second-read throw that moved the Chiefs near midfield and set up the eventual game-winning field goal. Advertisement
Quarterback Patrick Mahomes touched on Worthy’s toughness and ability to rise in big moments.
“He wants to be out there. He’s not in the perfect shape right now as far as the shoulder and then the ankle and the foot and all that different type of stuff but he’s a competitor,” Mahomes said. “He’s someone that wants to be on the football field and so he’s going to do whatever he can to make plays happen
