ARLINGTON, Texas − The Eagles ' offense finally broke out of its doldrums. Until it didn't.
They went back to their familiar pattern of one strong half and one confounding half. They grabbed a three-touchdown lead as Jalen Hurts went early and often to A.J. Brown following two weeks of controversy.
Hurts also hit DeVonta Smith, who made an acrobatic backwards flip of a catch. Buy Philadelphia Eagles tickets
Then the Eagles sputtered in the second half as the Cowboys erased the Eagles' lead. Just when it appeared that the Cowboys would take over after Xavier Gipson fumbled a punt away at the Eagles' 7, the Cowboys missed on 4th-and-goal from the 2 with 3:38 left.
The Eagles had one more chance, taking over at their own 2. But that went belly up when Hurts was sacked on 3rd-and-2.
