Maumee Mayor James MacDonald announced Sunday he is resigning his office.

“I am retiring from public service and as mayor with the City of Maumee effective Dec. 1, 2025,” Mr. MacDonald wrote in a Sunday memo to the City Council and administrative staff.

The mayor’s resignation follows the August resignation of embattled City Administrator Patrick Burtch.
