DETROIT — The New York Giants fired coach Brian Daboll after a 2-8 start, with the final straw being a loss to the Chicago Bears where the Giants coughed up a 10-point lead in the final four minutes of the game.
The Giants opted to kick a field goal — already up seven — in the fourth quarter after getting down to the one-yard line. The choice to take the points wouldn’t be enough to get the job done as the Bears came back late.
When interim head coach Mike Kafka was faced with a similar scenario Sunday against the Detroit Lions, he chose to go against what his predecessor had done.
“We did want to be aggressive,” Kafka said of his choice to go for it on fourth-and-goal at the 6-yard line. “We had a good flow.”
The Giants scoring a touchdown would’ve put them ahead of the Lions by 10 in
