WASHINGTON, D.C — William & Mary women’s basketball fell to Howard 64-53 at Burr Gymnasium on Sunday, despite Cassidy Geddes posting her first career double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds.
The Tribe (1-4) out-rebounded their opponent 40-32 but was hurt by 22 turnovers.
W&M opened play challenging the Bison (6-1) but faced difficulties offensively, connecting on only 2 of 13 field goal attempts. Despite these struggles, Amelia Basit provided a spark with a layup at 2:36, assisted by Kyah Smith , to break their scoring drought. The Bison maintained control throughout the quarter with efficient shooting, building a lead that stood at 19–8 by the end of the first. W&M managed to narrow the gap slightly with Cassidy Geddes hitting two free throws as the quarter closed.
