Why Raiders fired Chip Kelly from offensive coordinator role
The Las Vegas Raiders had big goals for this offense.
Consider the moves they made just this offseason.
They traded for Geno Smith.
They drafted Ashton Jeanty.
And they made Chip Kelly their offensive coordinator for the biggest such contract in the NFL.
But after 12 weeks, Kelly is done. The offense didn't live up to the hype.
Multiple reports Sunday night indicated that the Raiders have let Kelly go from his OC role.
"Raiders traded for Geno Smith, drafted Ashton Jeanty in the first round, had Brock Bowers returning and their offense has struggled this season," Schefter wrote on X.
The Raiders had already fired special teams coordinator Tom McMahon this season.
Now Kelly is out, too.
