Whether it's looking for an edge, or simply keeping pace with the competition, high school athletic programs are placing higher priorities on strength and conditioning.
The increased investments made by the Bloomington area's six IHSAA programs include new and better equipment, expanded spaces, more specialized coaching and, the latest in the arm's race, fieldhouses.
No matter the school's size and location, it's a matter of making the most of the resources they have. Not only to keep their teams and athletes competitive, but keep their school competitive on the open market when it comes to attracting new students.
In the end, it still comes down to athletes using all the tools available to them.
