Baltimore County is at a crossroads. For the first time in history, the county lost population following the most recent census. Household income is dropping while the rest of the state grows.

Families are leaving in search of opportunities they no longer see. That troubles me, because I want our children and grandchildren to have every reason to build their lives here. Rising crime is a sad part of the story. Homicides are up, and high-profile incidents like the Walmart shooting have shaken our sense of safety.
