PORTLAND, Maine (WMTW) - Portland Police arrested a suspect following a stabbing in Longfellow Square Park.

Police responded around 8 p.m. Saturday to find a 66-year-old man from Freeport with stab wounds to his face. The victim was brought to Maine Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

Shortly after that, police arrested 48-year-old Donald Cousino on aggravated assault charges. Cousino, who’s currently homeless, is being held at Cumberland County Jail on $5,000 cash bail.

Officials say that the two men didn’t know each other and that the incident was unprovoked.
