Clemson beat Georgia 97-94 in overtime on Sunday, the final day of the Shriners Charleston Children’s Classic. Paired with an opening-night win over West Virginia, the Tigers captured the event’s Palmetto bracket . All in all, it was a good weekend in the Holy City for Clemson.
“You had four good teams in our bracket, so you know that you’re gonna get two great games,” Clemson coach Brad Brownell said. “That’s what this is really about. In your non-conference, you’re gonna have some guaranteed games at home to play. But then in the neutral site games, you really wanna be challenged. You want good competition.”
He’s right. It was the kind of resume-padding stretch that can pay dividends months from now when under postseason consideration.
