A police officer accused of causing the death of a 'kind and passionate' student has appeared in court. Rachael Louise Moore died when she was struck by a marked police vehicle on Christmas Eve 2022.

The Independent Office for Police Conduct confirmed last week that PC Scott Thompson had been charged with causing the 22-year-old's death by careless driving.

The 32-year-old, of Truro Road in Wavertree, appeared before Manchester Magistrates’ Court this morning, Monday, in order to face this count, the ECHO reports.
