The Saratoga Rotary Club unveiled a peace pole on Nov. 7 in front of the Cilker School of Art and Design at West Valley College. The handcrafted pole has the message “May Peace Prevail on Earth” inscribed in eight different languages on each side. These poles have become international symbols of unity and hope, with more than 250,000 installed in over 180 countries.
Saratoga is getting ready for the holidays. First up is the annual tree lighting in Blaney Plaza, taking place Friday, Nov. 28. Festivities begin at 5:30 p.m.
Earlier that same day, children can have their own holiday kick-off with activities and treats at Candy Cane Village, 3-5:30 p.m. at 14460 Big Basin Way.
