LANSING — A statewide task force released a new report Monday outlining recommendations aimed at reducing gun violence and saving lives, days before the four-year anniversary of the Oxford High School shooting.
Per a Nov. 24 news release from the Michigan Gun Violence Prevention Task Force , made up of community partners, state departments, medical experts, law enforcement professionals, tribal representatives and academic researchers, spent the last year developing the report with input from advocates across the state.
The recommendations focus on implementing strategies backed by data to reduce firearm deaths and injuries.
The report calls for waiting periods for all firearm purchases, increasing the minimum age to purchase a firearm to 21 and closing the concealed pistol license
