Calgarians woke up Monday morning to the city blanketed in snow, and city transit has put snow detours into effect in response to the weather conditions.

Environment Canada is expecting an accumulation of 5 to 10 cm of snow to fall throughout Monday.

The detours are activated city-wide to prevent busses from getting stuck and avoid delays for commuters, and will remain in place until conditions improve at which point they may be lifted city-wide, or by quadrant.

Snow detours are designed based on where busses typically get stuck, said Calgary Transit in a news release, with customer feedback and operator insight also taken into consideration.
