Merseyrail has confirmed a special festive timetable with service changes across the network during the Christmas and New Year period

Trains will operate on every day of the festive season, with the sole exception of a complete closure on Christmas Day

Services will have an early finish at 8:30 pm on both Christmas Eve (December 24) and New Year's Eve

A special 30-minute service will run on Boxing Day , operating between approximately 9:30 am and 7:00 pm, calling at selected stations

Additional services will be provided on Boxing Day specifically to transport passengers between Liverpool and Aintree for the race meeting

A 30-minute Sunday service
