Omaha police are investigating a shooting at a home that injured a 5-year-old boy.

The incident happened around 3:20 p.m. on Sunday in the area of North 14th and Fort streets.

Police determined that the five-year-old accidentally shot himself. They said the child was able to access an unsecured firearm inside the house.

Officers arrested the child's father, 28-year-old Trae Colvin, for two counts of felony child neglect and two counts of misdemeanor child neglect. Omaha police said the child's mother, 27-year-old Gabriella Gutierrez, for two counts of misdemeanor child neglect.

Two children have allegedly been removed from the house.

The investigation is ongoing.
