GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A task force that has been studying gun violence and how to combat it has released its recommendations to curb gun violence in Michigan.
The Michigan Gun Violence Prevention Task Force was launched in June 2024 and includes public health experts, community members, medical experts and more.
The task force found that gun violence has become the leading cause of death for children in the United States, surpassing car crashes, cancers and drownings.
Its goals were to suggest how current gun violence prevention policies and funding could be maximized, identify factors that contribute to gun violence and collect data on gun violence in Michigan.
