GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A group of teenagers is in custody for an alleged attempted robbery and assault following the Santa Parade and tree lighting ceremony in downtown Grand Rapids.
A spokesperson for the Grand Rapids Police Department said some teens between the ages of 14 and 19 years old tried to rob a person and assaulted the victim in the process.
Officers arrested a 19-year-old with a concealed handgun. The handgun had an extended magazine with 26 rounds inside. That teen is in custody and facing a concealed weapons charge as well as being held on an outstanding warrant.
The other teens are facing preliminary assault charges.
Formal charges are pending, and the Kent County Prosecutor's Office will review the case.
