Newnan’s playoff hopes came to an end Friday night as the Cougars fell 48-28 to Sequoyah in a fast-paced, rain-soaked first-round matchup.
Despite four total touchdowns from quarterback Brodie Campbell, Newnan could not keep pace in the second half as the Chiefs pulled away to advance.
With the score tied 14-14 late in the first quarter, Sequoyah began to separate behind touchdowns from quarterback Kolby Martin and running back Will Rajecki.
Martin threw for two scores, including a 15-yard touchdown to Maddox Waller in the second quarter and a 7-yard strike to Jack Ripley in the fourth. Rajecki added two rushing touchdowns in the final period to help put the game out of reach.
