After weeks of unseasonably mild temperatures and bare ground, winter is making a sharp return to the Weyburn area.
Environment Canada has issued a forecast calling for snow beginning Monday afternoon, with 5 to 10 centimetres expected to accumulate by Tuesday morning. The system marks the end of a warm spell that has persisted for much of the month.
James Colangelo, a meteorologist with Environment Canada, says the incoming weather is part of a developing system moving in from southern Alberta.
“That system is kind of moving slowly eastward and southeastward,” Colangelo said. “You see this cold air pushing up from the north and in behind the system, making its way into Saskatchewan.”
