It has not been a fun season in Las Vegas.
What was supposed to be a historic season for the Raiders in their new home has gone sideways fast, careening toward another bottom-of-the-standings finish.
The team's big offseason pickup, Geno Smith, has been an objective failure at every level. He has thrown for 13 touchdowns and 13 interceptions while leading the team to a 2-9 record, with one of their wins coming in the opening week of the season.
If things couldn't get any worse, the Raiders gave a Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback their first debut win in 30 years. Shedeur Sanders played an inconsistent game with a shaky offensive squad around him, but it was still enough to outduel Smith and the Raiders.
As Smith left the field to a mix of jeers and indifference, he sneakily (or, well, at least he thought so) flipped off the fans as he ran into the tunnel.
The Raiders later issued a statement on the matter, expressing disapproval of their starting quarterback's actions.
“We are disappointed in his actions and have discussed the incident with Geno. We hold the Raider Nation in the highest regard and take this matter seriously.”
Press release or not, Smith will need more to stick around in Sin City. As the team continues to drop like a rock down the win column, they rise when it comes to their 2026 NFL Draft selection. Even though he's under contract for one more year with guaranteed money, that's more than likely not going to stop the Raiders from picking up a first-round quarterback if they're in position to do so.
The good news for Smith? At least the remaining schedule doesn't get any harder.
Oh, wait, five of their last six games are against teams with winning records.
Geno's time with the Raiders might be over faster than some Bachelor parties in Las Vegas.
