BOWLING GREEN, Ohio — A cybersecurity incident has disrupted the CodeRED emergency notification system used by Wood County and thousands of communities across the country, officials said.
The Wood County Emergency Management Agency announced on Monday that it was notified by CodeRED, its contracted mass notification vendor, that the platform is currently unable to issue alerts and notifications due to the breach. The company is working to restore services by moving customers to a new secure platform.
CodeRED is operated by OnSolve and provides emergency and routine notification services to more than 10,000 communities nationwide. In Wood County, 19 jurisdictions rely on the system to issue warnings for weather, public safety and other urgent events.
