OAK GROVE, Ark. — A 17-year-old was injured on Saturday, November 22 after a crash into a tree ended a police chase, according to Arkansas State Police.
Around 3 p.m. that day a trooper tried to stop a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado pickup on Highway 84 near Oak Grove in Hot Spring County for a traffic violation.
Police say the driver "refused to stop and fled." That would lead the trooper to pursue the vehicle to execute a TVI maneuver. The maneuver, also known as a PIT maneuver, is when a law enforcement official uses their vehicle to spin and stop a driver's car.
The maneuver would cause the 17-year-old's truck to "veer off the highway" and crash into a tree.
The driver was transported to a nearby hospital to be treated for their injuries.
